Colon Cleanse
To keep our digestive system working well, we must eat good food (including 20-40 grams of fiber, drink plenty of water (raw fruit and vegetables are over 90% water), exercise moderately daily, and keep mentally healthy (low stress and anxiety, high satisfaction and joy). We sometimes violate some or many of these principles.
With this, our colon may become sluggish or hyperactive, or contracted in places and distended in others. Either way may present problems. A colon cleanse can address either problem. Some people prefer a colonic or enema to cleanse the colon. I prefer working from the inside out. This involves using bulking agents and herbs.
There are several products for cleansing the colon, that include: mucilage (like pectin), charcoal, clays, and a separate product with cathartics (cape aloe, rhubarb root, senna) and colon strengtheners (cascara sagrada).
There are several good combination products around. I use the Dr. Christopher 2 part cleanse, with the black powder-#2, and the capsules-#1. We start with number 1. Take 1 capsule with dinner the first night. The second night take 2 capsules. Keep ramping up until the result is a satisfying bowel movement first thing in the morning. If it takes 3 capsules, this is your starting number.
Now add one more capsule on the next day and follow the directions on the part 2-the powder. You are now taking the powder 2 or 3 times a day and taking the capsules. I you have too loose a bowel movement, cut back by one capsule with dinner. If you are too tight, add another capsule. As you go along, you will naturally need fewer capsules. Decrease as your bowel movement dictates. Your stool should be somewhat formed, but soft.
Complete both bottles of product. You may need more of one or the other. It may be good to get extra, incase you want to go longer. The capsule rate will eventually go down to one, at which time you may complete the process.
